Gastrointestinal Resection & Anastomosis Crash Course

Intestinal resection and anastomosis are performed with some frequency in small animal surgery. Although this is a common procedure, it can be technically difficult. Pitfalls of the procedure and tips for success will be discussed. Equipment to facilitate resection and anastomosis will also be discussed. If performing gastrointestinal surgery, it is also important to be able to recognize a postoperative problem. Therefore, postoperative care and monitoring will be presented.
