This session will cover important concepts in canine and feline respiratory infectious disease outbreaks. A population health perspective will be used to discuss pathogenesis of causative agents, clinical signs, treatment, prevention, and approach to a respiratory infectious disease outbreak. This session will be helpful to anyone who works with cats and dogs in shelter populations, boarding facilities, hospital environments, or day care programs.   

  • Describe the pathogenesis of canine and feline infectious respiratory disease complex.
  • List at least three important methods to prevent canine and feline infectious respiratory disease complex.
  • Identify vulnerable populations of animals that may be more susceptible to canine and feline infectious respiratory disease complex.
  • Describe how vaccination, isolation, prevention of overcrowding, and proper disinfection can save more lives and money for your organization in the long-run.
